People-Powered Profits

Trafford Publishing - 2006 (219 pages in paperback)

Author Denis Orme

ISBN: 1-4120-8067-3

People-Powered Profits was written to help build people to insure a profitable and successful team. It is written for the benefit of individuals, managers, CEO's and Board members who desire to motivate and retain the best people.

In People-Powered Profits author Denis Orme touches upon a wide variety of life issues including one's goals, career, self-promotion, teamwork, relationships, leadership and Board involvement. He achieves this extensive subject matter in 5 sections comprised of 39 short chapters or editorials. Each of these are brief and pithy, with an emphasis on bullet points and short comments. The book is a result of Orme's years of consultative experience.

For example, Orme begins the book by encouraging the reader to do something everyday that moves them toward their written goals. He mentions that less than 3% of individuals have plans and goals they work on every day. To help promote this activity Orme provides a helpful Personal Growth Plan program. The author offers many charts and self-evaluation assessments throughout the book.

People-Powered Profits can be easily read and will be especially appreciated by those who enjoy receiving knowledge in a direct manner and "to the point." A weakness of the book is that some of the chapters don't transition well into one another, or into the title. A strength of the book is Orme's focus on personal development and self-analysis. If your career is in a rut or stalled, this book may be a good primer to point you in the right direction.
